“It’s another triumph from director Craig Ilott, co-creator Stuart Couzens and designer Alfred, whose spectacular set should become the first hotel to tour to global customers, rather than the other way round.” Patrick McDonald, The Adelaide Advertiser
Enter a lobby brimming with bohemian verve, an immersive theatrical worldof French intrigue. Savour the champagne, graze on a cheeseboard and meet thecast of characters who call L’Hôtel home–a crème de la crème of performers fromthe world of cabaret, burlesque and circus. Follow the characters behind closeddoors and become voyeurs to L’Hôtel’s secrets.
L’Hôtel made its debut at Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2021, brought to life by a stellar cast including Brendan Maclean, Caroline Nin, Bri Emrich and Lexi Strumolo.
The show then came to Sydney for a celebrated run at the Sydney Opera House in October-November 2022. The performance was met with rave reviews from critics and audiences alike.
“L’Hôtel is fun, frivolous and thoroughly entertaining. The skill presented by all the performers is world class and more than one patron was overheard commenting that they would have loved to stay longer. Perhaps it’s the champagne, perhaps it’s the sense of indulgence or more likely it’s the air of French decadence that leaves the audience wanting more,” said The AU Review.
If you yearn for the perfect trip to Paris filled with the perfect French aesthetic but your budget doesn’t quite allow for the indulgence, then look a little closer to home at the Sydney Opera House and L’Hotel; the perfect taster to some of Paris’ best shows,” said Tessa Miles on Theatre Thoughts Aus.
The French affair is set to continue beyond Sydney with a tour around Australia.
