Serving Up Guilty Pleasures
The smell of sweet whisky and cheese toasties drew over 10,000 people each night in from the cold and up to the Talisker Dark Bar at Mona’s Dark Mofo festival in Tasmania. An event that embraces quirky, hedonistic pleasures, the bar was no exception – the go-to for all drinking indulgences.
The 5,000 square metre bar was decked out in just the right amount of shipwrecked, maritime character. A tasteful nod to the Talisker Whisky origins and flavour, it also provided the perfect backdrop for getting cosy on chesterfield sofas in front of indoor fires.
For two weeks, Hobart hosted the heady festival of darkness through large-scale public art, film, music, light and noise. With the cultural experiences left to the artistic best, the Talisker Dark Bar secured a reputation for being the flavour combo masters. Molten blue cheese jaffles, washed down with a smoky Spiced Hot Toddies – this was the place to come for indulging guilty pleasures.
