South Eveleigh’s dynamic neighbourhood food precinct transformed into an all-day festival of open air dining, drinking and dancing in December 2021 – an exceptional and long-awaited return to community events after months of lockdown. Alfresco Disco celebrated the vibrant culture of the city’s inner-south-west, part of destination NSW’s Sydney Open For Lunch campaign, reconnecting food lovers, locals and visitors. Two of the country’s defining names in food and drink, and South Eveleigh neighbours, Kylie Kwong from Lucky Kwong and Matt Whiley from the innovative zero-waste bar, Re, joined forces to deliver a banging menu of noodles, cocktails in celebration of the first week of summer and the joy of coming back together as a community.
A curation of local live DJs provided the soundtrack, including The Original Roman vs Boogie Fingers, Levins vs Joyride, Ayabatonye, Deepa and Tyson Koh, inspiring revellers to hit the mirror-ball dance floor and shimmy into the night.x
